Milton goes green for annual Lucky Leprechaun 5K and parade

MILTON, Del. – Despite the rainy conditions over a hundred people got together in Milton on Sunday for their annual Lucky Leprechaun 5K, and it was all for a good cause.

This event, which takes place right before the Milton St. Patrick’s Day Parade is hosted by several local businesses. The goal of the 5K is to raise $25,000 dollars money that would benefit the Milton Fire Department, the Milton Chamber of Commerce, the Gladys Wilkins Seeding the Future Scholarship Fund and more.

Workers at the Irish Eyes Pub and Restaurant said the event is just a great way to give back to the community.

“We have the belief that it is very important to support the community that supports you, and when we opened here in Milton, we were welcomed with opened arms, and we’ve just tried to give back as much as we can, and so that’s why we’ve created this parade, and out of the race,” said Maryellen Kiernan, the parade committee president.

After the 5K locals were able to enjoy food and music while they watched over 60 different floats pass by as part of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
