Fruitland Primary celebrates Dr. Seuss’s birthday with guest readers

FRUITLAND, Md. – Over at Fruitland Primary School, students celebrated Dr. Seuss’s’ birthday Friday afternoon, and a special guest joined in on the fun. 47 ABC’s very own Erica Murphy joined Ms. Vance’s 2nd Grade class to read Oh The Places You’ll Go to students. Seuss’s birthday which is actually on March 2nd, is also known as Read Across America day. Teachers say it’s a motivational and awareness day, calling all children and youth in every community across the United States to celebrate the importance of reading.

“The kinds of books that you read, the kinds of stories Dr. Seuss writes, are so inspirational like the book I read today its really about overcoming your obstacles and everyone can use that lesson and the earlier you get it, the better,” said Murphy.

Local libraries across Delmarva will also be holding read across America events tomorrow throughout the day for children to take part in.
