Free tax filing assistance available in Delaware

GEORGETOWN, Del. –  Today, Senator Tom Carper joined the Earned Income Tax Credit Coalition and others to highlight a free filing assistance that’s available to Delawareans.

The tax filing deadline is quickly approaching so organizations are hoping to educate families who may be struggling financially that they may qualify for an earned income tax credit, something that could help lift them out of poverty.

On top of that, they wanted to raise awareness that free tax filing assistance is available in the first state to those who need it.

Sen. Tom Carper, (D) Delaware said, “The idea is they’re going to pay some taxes, but we want to make sure they’re taking advantage of the earned income tax credit if they’re eligible..for families with four kids, a couple, a husband and wife, up to about 50,000 dollars they may be eligible for the earned income tax credit. Could be worth as much as six thousand dollars.”

The tax filing deadline is on Monday, April 15th.
