Dwyer dominates from the mound, Gulls take first of three game series vs Frostburg

SALISBURY, Md.- In their first game of a three game series with Frostburg, the Salisbury Seagulls defeated the Bobcats 4-1. The 20th ranked Gulls improve to  12-4-1 on the season. Junior pitcher Clayton Dwyer shined on the mound striking out 10 batters, throwing 83 strikes on 118 pitches.

After Frostburg went scoreless in the top of the first, Salisbury would get on the board first with a ground out by Jimmy Monaghan scoring Cam Hyder. The gulls would score four unanswered runs in the second, fifth and seventh inning to take the 4-0 lead headed into the final inning.

In the top of the 9th needing runs, the Bobcats would get a spark from Quin Ambeault who knocked a double into deep center field sending Mitch Fyffe home from second to get FSU on the board. The magic would end as the next batter hit a grounder straight to the short stop and couldn’t beat the throw to first for the third out of the inning.

Salisbury and Frostburg will complete their three game series tomorrow, Sunday, with the first game starting at 11 am.
