Dover Police arrest two on numerous drug charges

DOVER, Del. – Dover Police arrested two Thursday afternoon following a vehicle stop in Dover.

The stop was initiated on West Reed Street, between S. New Street and S. Governors Avenue, when officers on patrol in the area recognized two front seat passengers in a white SUV. A computer check revealed that both were wanted on active capias’.

When officers made contact with the vehicle’s occupants, the odor of marijuana was detected, and a subsequent search of the vehicle ensued. Sumlin was found to be in possession of 3.2 grams of marijuana, while Scott was found to be in possession of 42.5 grams of marijuana, 88 bags of heroin, 100 bags of fentanyl, and a digital scale.

Scott was charged with three counts of possession with intent to deliver, drug paraphernalia, and violation of probation. He is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $10,000 cash bond.

Sumlin was charged with possession of marijuana (civil) and several traffic offenses. He was released on his own recognizance.

A 15-year-old female passenger was also committed for violation of probation.
