Smyrna man arrested on drug charges following search warrant

SMYRNA, Del. – Smyrna Police say they’ve arrested a man following an investigation into illicit activities at his home.

Swat team members from the Smyrna Police Department entered a home in the 200 block of E North Street at around 6 AM Friday, to execute a search and seizure warrant. Investigators located and seized a small amount of heroin and crack cocaine inside the residence.

As a result of the search, 29-year-old Steven Hay was arrested and charged with maintaining a drug property, possession of a controlled substance (heroin, subsequent offense), and possession of a controlled substance (crack cocaine). Hay was also wanted for failure to re-register as a sex offender.

Hay is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $2,200 secured bond for the drug charges, and an additional $1,000 unsecured bond for the failure to re-register as a sex offender charges.
