Local salon holds fundraiser for sustainable agriculture in Sussex County

MILTON, Del. – Dozens of local businesses worked hand in hand Sunday afternoon to support sustainable agriculture in Sussex County.

According to the event coordinator the community put together several silent auctions as part of their annual “Fundrazer” at Salon Milton.

The event featured items like delicious baked goods, beer and wine as well as a food truck.

According to the owner of the salon John Potocki, proceeds benefit the Gladys Wilkins Seeding the Future Scholarship.

The event has raised over $7,000 dollars in the past.

The scholarship honors farmer Gladys Wilkins who passed away a few years ago.

“I was driving to the gym, and I thought start an agriculture scholarship fund in her honor, so that’s what we’ve done,” said Potocki.

“We’re in our fourth year now, and the last three years, we’ve been featured as one of the benefit people for the St. Patrick’s Parade,” said Potocki.

According to Potocki, there will be four lucky students selected to get $3,000 dollars in scholarship money.
