Former Philadelphia Eagle David Akers delivers keynote address in Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Eastern Shore residents received a big new years surprise Friday morning at the annual Ocean City Mayors Prayer Breakfast held at the Clarion Hotel.

Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame inductee David Akers delivered the keynote address to those in attendance, speaking about perseverance, hard work and overcoming adversities.

Akers spent the bulk of his NFL career in Philadelphia playing with the Eagles from 1999-2010. During that time, Akers was selected to five pro bowls, was named first team all pro in 2001 and was named second team all pro four times (2002, 2004, 2009, 2010).

Akers is currently the franchise’s all time leading scorer and was inducted into the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame in 2017.
