Local business hurting from Nanticoke Road closure

SALISBURY, Md. – There’s an update on a road that’s been closed for two months now because of an October washout. The Maryland State Highway Administration now has road crews out on Nanticoke Road to fix this massive washout.

But as crews begin to reconstruct this road, locals in the area are feeling the burn. All of them have to take a big detour.

And the little gas station nearby is losing business, in fact they say they’ve lost about 50 percent of their sales since the road was shut down.

“I’m just planning for the worst and hoping for the best at this point in time. Basically it forces us to put money into the business to keep it going the business isn’t sustainable at 50 percent of it’s sales,” explains Gary Foxwell, owner of Pure Gas and Deli.

SHA tells us they have yet to set a date for the projects completion. While they work the gas station will remain open and hope that they can weather the storm.
