Local businesses: race weekend not affecting sales
DOVER, Del. – Believe it or not, some businesses in and around the Dover International Speedway are indifferent about this weekend’s race event.
While visitors have already been filing in to Dover, local business owners tell 47 ABC, the crowds really won’t make much of an impact.
In fact they say race weekend hasn’t really effected business.
The owner of a local liquor store tells 47 ABC, over the past five years, he’s seen a steady decline in visitors and sales have remained steady.
Vinay Prajapti said, “A lot of people are not coming. A lot of my friends say it doesn’t feel like it used to. Before you used to see a lot of traffic. Now you don’t see much, or much trailers.”
Even though the crowds aren’t nearly what they used to be, Prajapti said he hopes people will still come to his store and buy supplies for their tailgates. Races start Friday and continue through Sunday.
