Fall Festival raises funds for local women and children organizations

LEWES, Del. – One fall festival featured plenty of local vendors showing off their goods, but the theme of the event was raising funds to help Sussex County women and children.

The Fall Festival at Conley’s Methodist church started as a craft show a few years back, but now features over 50 vendors, who pay to get a spot.

And those vendors supply the funds raised for charity, with over $2,000 raised a year through the event.

Those funds go to benefit a slew of different organizations, such as the YWCA and their Crisis Center, which is always in need of funding.

“There’s an association that we give to for women that need facilities, or just common care of shampoo and toothpaste, and that organization.  These are the things that we look for,” said Betty Walsh, a chairperson for the festival.

We’re told the funds from this one event can be spread out to about 20 to 30 local organizations, all of which support women and children.
