Carozza, Mathias go head to head at SU forum
SALISBURY, Md. – We’re three weeks away from the 2018 General Election and on Tuesday Maryland State Senate candidates Mary Beth Carozza and Jim Mathias squared off at a forum right here on the eastern shore. On Tuesday Salisbury Univeristy’s Public Affairs and Civic Engagement (PACE) held the forum for Carozza and Mathias to answer questions about key local issues. Topics ranged from education investment, public safety, the opioid crisis as well as local infrastructure. Those who attended the forum said it was important to see each candidate face to face to hear their stance on different issues, and to help them determine who’d they vote for on November 6th.
“It makes that relationship between voter and running candidate very personal and much more down to earth and applicable so I think it’s very important for students especially to come out here because we’re the future of the American political system and it’s very important for students to see who their candidates are,” said PACE student organizer Abiodun Adeoye.
The registration period has officially ended for Maryland voters, and early voting is set to begin on Thursday October 25th.
