Dorchester County church fire leads to arson investigation

CAMBRIDGE, Md.- The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is asking for the public’s help for any information that would lead to the identification of the person(s) responsible for intentionally setting fire to a Cambridge Church early this morning.

At approximately 7:26 AM, the Rescue Fire Company was called to respond to the 800 Block of Robbins Street in Cambridge for an extinguished fire. When they arrived at the scene, fire personnel discovered the remains of a fire at the Refuge Temple Church of God that had already been extinguished by members of the church.

Officials determined that the fire originated at the front entrance doors of the one story church. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the fire was intentionally set. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is actively helping with this investigation.
