Authorities search for other potential victims in connection with Del. home improvement fraud case

SUSSEX COUNTY, Del.  – An investigation is underway, after authorities say criminal charges are pending against a Sussex County-based contractor regarding home improvement fraud.

On Friday, the Delaware Department of Justice Consumer Protection Unit says four counts of theft, two counts of issuing a bad check, two counts of home improvement fraud, two counts of unlawful use of a payment card, two counts of forgery second degree, two counts of criminal impersonation, and one count of providing false statements to hinder an investigation are pending against 32-year-old Sergio Izzo Jr. Authorities say the Lewes man is accused of defrauding multiple homeowners as Izzo and Son Turf Company, LLC in Long Neck.

Law enforcement reports that Izzo accepted payment from several different victims for home improvement work that he then did not substantially complete, and did not provide refunds. The DOJ says allegations of making  unauthorized charges to customers credit cards and accepting delivery of materials from a building supply company without payment are related to the criminal charges.

The Delaware DOJ urges other homeowners who believe they may have a similar complaint about Izzo or Izzo & Son Turf Company, LLC, or information related to the investigation, to call DOJ Special Investigator Dan Daly at 302-752-3215.
