A Delaware man is facing several felony charges after police say he turned himself in on July 19 for his role in an eight-vehicle collision that happened in Rehoboth Beach.

The Rehoboth Beach Police Department says they have been investigating the July 7 incident for almost two weeks before 45-year old Martin Tuohy, of Middletown, was determined to be the driver of the 2016 Dodge Ram pick-up at the center of the investigation. According to the report, the Dodge rammed into the front of a blue 2017 Subaru Forester, driven by a woman from Ashburn, VA, as the Subaru was stopped to allow the Dodge to back out. After the reported collision, Tuohy, who police believe was intoxicated, quickly fled the scene west on Rehoboth Ave.

Officials say that the truck then moved to the left lane, collided with an unoccupied red Hyundai parked in the median causing minor damage, and continued west. Investigators say the Dodge then collided with an unoccupied red Ford Explorer that was parked next to the Hyundai, causing excessive damage to the Ford, and pushed the vehicle on top of the median and partially on top of an unoccupied Toyota Corolla which was parked next to the Ford.

Police say the Dodge then continued on, striking a silver Ford Fusion that was parked in the median, and knocking the Fusion's bumper completely off. Investigators believe that these collisions caused the left front wheel of Tuohy's vehicle to come off even though he continued west on the avenue.

According to the report,  as Tuohy approached the Second St. intersection his truck rammed into the rear of a black Toyota RAV4 that was stopped at a redlight and occupied by a couple from Norristown, PA. As a result of this collision, the RAV4 was reportedly pushed into the intersection as Tuohy continued west onto the sidewalk, colliding with a bike rack in front of the Post Office.  Police say the couple in the RAV4 were not injured.

Tuohy then reportedly continued west, exiting the sidewalk and entering the intersection, where he struck a silver Honda Pilot occupied by four people from Montoursville, PA and Millsboro, DE. The Pilot was allegedly stopped at the intersection prior to the collision to allow two females to cross the street before turning. Investigators say the front of Tuohy's truck had struck the rear driver side of the Pilot causing it to spin 180 degrees into the intersection. The females walking across the street escaped in time to avoid injury, however all four occupants of the Pilot were taken to Beebe Medical Campus with non-life threatening injuries. Police say the Ram truck continued west and entered the sidewalk on the west side of the intersection, before striking a light pole and coming to a stop. Tuohy was also transported to Beebe Medical Campus for non-life threatening injuries.

Rehoboth Beach police arrested Tuohy as he turned himself in and charged him with one count of felony 4th offense driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, two counts of felony first degree reckless endangering, one count of felony first degree vehicular assault, three counts of misdemeanor second degree vehicular assault, and one misdemeanor count of leaving the scene of a collision resulting in injury.

He was arraigned and released on $16,000 unsecured bail.

The investigation of this collision is ongoing.
