Officials: Playground equipment damaged after fire; investigation ongoing

A fire remains under investigation after Maryland authorities say playground equipment was damaged on Sunday morning.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal says just after 2:30 AM, the Fruitland Fire Department responded to a fire on Flower Hill Church Road, in Eden. Officials say playground equipment was on fire and discovered by a passerby. 

According to the report, the fire began on the wooden deck of the playground equipment. Officials report that the incident resulted in $1,000 in structure damage. No one was injured as result of this incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
