A man will spend over a decade in prison after he raped a child in Wicomico County.

The Office of the Wicomico County State's Attorney says on June 8, 38-year-old Warner Lee Parkhurst was sentenced to 15 years of active incarceration in the Divisions of Corrections. The Mardela Springs man pleaded guilty to rape second degree on April 30, 2018. The charge stems from an incident that happened at Parkhurst's Mardela Springs home in 2017.

In November 2017, Parkhurst engaged in non-consensual sex with a female minor who was under the age of 14 and staying at his residence.

The 38-year-old received a total sentence of 20 years with all but 15 years suspended. Upon his release, he will be on five years of supervised probation.

Parkhurst must also register as a Tier III sex offender.
