Bear’s That Care wraps up latest toy drive

Bears That Care wrapped up their annual toy drive on Thursday. The organization gave away thousands of gifts to families in need for the holidays.

Volunteers said they helped around 500 kids this year, and they were impressed by the amount of toys that were graciously donated by the public.

Toys and bikes filled the entire Preston Fire Department almost to the ceiling.

Bears That Care volunteers said the ones receiving the gifts were emotional, and extremely grateful for the act of kindness.

Katie Jones, a Fundraising Coordinator for Bears That Care said, "We have a lot of people that come in here that are crying saying that this is all their kids are getting. That they would have nothing without the bag we give them, so I think it makes a big difference. It takes a lot of stress off of people especially people that are raising kids that are not even theirs."

Michelle Webster, the President of Bears That Care added, "Some were so grateful, you know? Just thankful. Some left here crying, you know, just something to have for their kids under the Christmas tree."

Bears That Care will begin collecting donations for their Christmas in July event in January.
