Man arrested after reported Kent Co. pursuit in stolen vehicle

A man was arrested, after troopers say he was involved in a pursuit in a stolen vehicle, in Kent County.

Delaware State Police say on Friday, just after 12:00 PM, a trooper on patrol in the London Village neighborhood noticed a vehicle with a registration indicating that the tag was lost or stolen, in Magnolia. The trooper then reportedly turned around in order to pull over the vehicle, when the vehicle apparently began southbound on Cherry Drive East within the neighborhood.

According to the report, while the driver attempted to turn on Cherry Drive at Apple Run, He lost control and hit a mailbox, in the 100 block of Apple Run. Authorities say the white Ford F150 continued eastbound before striking a tree and coming to a stop. At that point, law enforcement says the driver exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot, which prompted a foot pursuit. During the pursuit, the trooper reportedly deployed his divisional issued taser.

DSP reports that 27-year-old Curtis Brown, of Felton, was arrested and charged with disregarding police officer signal, receiving stolen property over $1,500, resisting arrest, driving while suspended or revoked, possession of drug paraphernalia marijuana related, and multiple other traffic related offenses. Troopers say it was later determined that the vehicle was reported stolen out of the Milford Police Department's jurisdiction.

Brown was later turned over to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on a$4,555 secured bond.
