Glen Avenue road closure announced for Golden Retriever Club in Salisbury

Officials say that a Glen Avenue road closure has been announced for the Golden Retriever Club of America National Specialty on Friday.

The Golden Retriever Club of America National Specialty will be held at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center and nearby areas from September 22-30. To provide safe passage of attendees, spectators and dogs, a portion of Glen Avenue in front of the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center will close on Sunday, September 24 at 7:00 AM through Saturday, September 30 at 10:00 PM. The closed portion runs from Civic Avenue to St. Albans Drive.

The Potomac Valley Golden Retriever Club is hosting the National, with the theme of Paws N Claws fitting for an event held on the Eastern Shore, known for Chesapeake Bay seafood and crustaceans.

The event is set to bring over 5,000 people to the area, resulting in a hotel room night demand over 6,000 and an estimated economic impact of almost $5.7 million.
