Wall Street bull meets fearless girl created by Lewes artist
Thanks to an artist from Lewes, Delaware, the famous Charging Bull statue in New York has met its match.
This is the Fearless Girl.
The statue stands 20-feet across from the bull, which has historically been a symbol of Wall Street's strength since 1989.
The new bronze statue is of a girl facing towards the bull, hands on hip with a defiant expression on her face.
The Delaware artist Kristen Visbal created the statue in celebration of International Women's Day and Women's History Month.
Visbal says in a press release, the statue should inspire the young to dream as if anything were possible and encourage today's working woman to hold her ground.
The sculpture was cast in bronze at the New Arts Foundry in Baltimore.
It will be on display for one year in New York City.
