sad day for nfl fans. yes, the football world is shaken by tradgedy. tragic news out of louisiana today- former new york jets running back joe mcknight was shot to deat in an apparent road rage incident. the shooting occurred at approximately 2:45 pm outside of new orleans, where mcknight was from. the suspected shooter, ronald gasser, surrendered to authorities and was taken into custody. the jets drafted mcknight in the 4th round of the 2010 draft. he played three seasons for new york. he rushed for 502 career yards. his nfl career came to an end in 2014 with the kansas city cheifs after he tore an achilles tendon. the capitals were in action tonight at verizon center, taking on the new york islanders. final seconds of the first period here…. puck from evgeny kuznetsov to justin williams, caps think they have the tally but officials rule no goal. not in time. to the third period. scoreless. islanders get on the board as shane price nets the breakaway lose puck. john tavers turnover in caps zone, brock nelson w rebound on scramble to get puck…. nets it for the score. andrew lad passes to jason chimera with the backhand for his third goal of the season and the islanders shut out the caps 2-0, third win in a row. in redskins news- the nfl named quarterback kirk cousins the nfc offensive player of the month. cousins threw for over 18-hundred yards, 8 touchdowns and only eight interceptions during the month of november. though the skins fell in their thanksgiving day matchup against the cowboys, cousins was spectacular- throwing for 449 yards and three touchdowns. this sunday, the skins travel to arizona to face the cardinals. and an update on those cowboys taking on the vikings in some thursday night football action. that’s it for sports. we’ll wrap things up after the break. keep it right here — you’re watching 47 abc! catch more of the action on our sports page at 47abc.com hairstyles brought to you by
