UPDATE: Woman charged with stabbing her 82-year-old grandmother

(AP) – Anne Arundel County Police say a 20-year-old woman has been charged with stabbing her 82-year-old grandmother.

The department said in a news release Tuesday that officers were called to a home in Pasadena on Sunday morning and found the older woman suffering from multiple stab wounds. Detectives report that the woman’s granddaughter, Savannah Weaver, said she stabbed her grandmother to “cut the demons out of her.”

Police say the grandmother was treated and released at Shock Trauma in Baltimore. Authorities say Weaver was taken to a local hospital, and was released Monday afternoon.

Weaver is charged with attempted murder. She is being held pending a bond review on Wednesday. Online court records do not list a lawyer for Weaver.
