UPDATE: Victim identified in Milton fatal crash

State Troopers have identified the person who died in a car crash in Milton, when the vehicle they were in crashed into an electric pole.

Delaware State Police say, 25-year-old Brittani Yilmaz of Millsboro died Thursday evening at the scene of the crash.

According to reports, 29-year James Lynn of New York was driving on Harbeson Road approaching a curve south of Diamond Farm Road, around 7:45 PM. That’s when investigators say for unknown reasoning, the car exited the east side of the roadway and traveled northbound in the grass until the right side of the car hit a utility pole. Yilmaz was the front seat passenger, and was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene. Lynn was flown from the scene to Christiana Medical Center where he was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

Lynn was later charged with operation of a motor vehicle causing death of another person, failure to remain in a single lane, and failure to have insurance. He was arraigned and released after posting $2,000 secured bond.

Delaware State Police is continuing their investigation into this incident. Investigators say, speed does not appear to be a factor in this case and alcohol or drug impairment is unknown at this time. Yilmaz was reportedly wearing a seat belt.

Harbeson Road south of Diamond Farm Road was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared as well as utility crews repairing downed wires.
