Salisbury’s Winter Wonderland is quickly approaching

organizer on its hands. salisbury’s winter wonderland is quickly approaching — but it may need some help to make this event better than ever. 47 abc’s justina coronel has the story. track 1 the lights are up for salisbury’s winter wonderland. but the signs of wear and tear are hard to ignore. which is why jen snipe — who has taken the reigns on this holiday event — hopes she can rally the local community — to bring back the shine and sparkle of days gone by. we’d really like it to be like it was when i was a kid, what i remember with all the lights being up in the park and it really being lit up. track 2 jen shipe, is the head of wyatt’s warrior foundation. she tells 47 abc — she took over the event in september — in an effort to give back to the community which has given so much their foundation. and she admits — some of the displays — are in bad shape. so the lights have been around for 25 years, they were bought by the wicomico tourism department and the lights went dark one year. and kim hudson decided that she wanted to bring them back. so for the last 10 years, she was working with volunteers to restore some of the lights and get back them in the park. track 3 and now– as the new organizer — shipe wants to make the christmas lights event better than ever. we’re looking for sponsors to help us with money for the lights, there are lights that need to be restored. but there are also lights that are 25 years old that have really served their time and it’s time for us to purchase new lights for the park. track 4 the free event — to light up the city park — is on saturday, november 26th. it’s not just about the festive displays. there are children’s choirs, steppers from wi-middle, and dancers from feet of fire. and the most important is santa claus is coming and its an opportunity for parents to take a picture, a free picture of their kids with santa. so it’s really a great event for the community. track 5 shipe knows there is only about a week left to prepare — but she’s hoping — folks will see what she sees in salisbury’s winter wonderland. the potential for improvement — not just for this year — but for years and generations to come. justina coronel 47 abc. the event will take place next saturday in the city park– starting at 5 p-m and ends around 6 p-m. and the lights will be lit until after new years. coming up – we take a look at the new developments
