Md. residents encounter long lines on election day
thing many local maryland residents have encountered throughout the day — have been long lines. 47 abc’s lissette nu?ez was at different locations and has more. kristy kagan, pocomoke city, md i’ve never had to stand in line to vote for all the years i’ve lived in pocomoke regina dale, chief judge they just walked in and there was just an initial look of shock because they couldn’t believe how long the lines were like “oh my i can’t wait, it’s going to take two hours” track 1 that was the reaction of many folks as they entered the pocomoke community center to cast their vote on election day. regina dale – one of the chief judges at this location tells 47 abc folks were lining up outside the door since about 6:15 a-m. and within a few hours- they were running out of space inside for people to wait in line. regina dale, chief judge the lobby was full the line was looped around a couple times inside the community center, down the hallway, we even had to go into a conference room that’s next door to us to loop the line around there track 2 and elections judges here even had to call for back up. martina wharton, chief judge we needed additional people just to allow someone to take a momentary break to just even go to the restroom track 3 and in wicomico county – election officials say they’ve also been swamped. this morning – anthony gutierrez confirmed that the voting machine over at pemberton elementary had a paper jam that caused delays for a few minutes. they also tell us they’ve received complaints about delays – which wicomoico officials say can be due to the additional questions on this year’s ballots. after a long election season that has tested the country’s patience — officials are hoping voters have a little bit left — to get to the finish line. lissette nu?ez 47 abc. and there is still plenty of time for maryland residents to head to the polls if you haven’t voted. polls are open until 8 p-m. and for the full election coverage for tonight — we have all the results on our website — just logon to 47-abc-dot-com. and stepping aside from election
