Salisbury man arrested after allegedly assaulting his stepfather

Michael W. Echard, 23, of Salisbury

On Wednesday around 3:15PM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to a home for a reported altercation.

According to the report, the deputy went to the home on Tyler Avenue and found out that Michael Echard, 23, of Salisbury, began arguing with his mother. During the argument, his stepfather intervened because of Echard’s aggressive actions.

Echard then allegedly grabbed his stepfather by the throat and pulled him to the ground where he continued to choke him. During the investigation, the deputy reports they saw signs of injury that matched this account.

The deputy placed Echard under arrest and took him to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner.

Following an initial appearance where Echard was charged with assault second degree, the Commissioner detained him in the Detention Center in lieu of $15,000 bond.
