Kids show off baking skills at Del. State Fair

Kids baking contest entry

It’s not just adults that get to show off their baking skills at this year’s Delaware State Fair. Over 60 kids entered today’s baking contest to reveal their dessert talents.

Although they were being judged in several different categories, the main rule is making sure each creation is made from cake mix.

Contest judge and culinary teacher, Trina Stump, told 47ABC that this is one of her favorite contests to judge because not only do they judge the children’s food, but they also get to interact with the kids.

Stump says, “We love to have more kids come in and enter into these contests. We have a contest every single day of the fair for the culinary department and a lot of adult contests as well so check it out on the website and come enter we love love love to eat.”

And the winners of Tuesday’s cake contest in the 5 to 8-year-old category is William Bushey, Alyssa Baker in the 9 to 12-year-old category, and finally the winner in the 13 to 16-year-old category is Syerra Smith.
