UPDATE: Several Delaware schools receive bomb threats Friday morning
Several Delaware schools reportedly received bomb threats, on Friday morning.
Dover Police say they responded Central Middle School, Holy Cross, and Towne Point Elementary School for reported phoned in bomb threats.
On the Capital School District Facebook page, Officials announced that the Central MS received a bomb threat on Friday morning. The school was then evacuated, while Dover Police investigate, evaluate, and sweep the building.
Officials say all measures are being taken to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Students were reportedly be dismissed at 11:00 AM. District Officials are asking that parents let their children go home, as they normally would, for a smoother dismissal process.
Also on the Capital School District Facebook page, it was announced that Towne Point received a bomb threat. Students were reportedly evacuated.
Towne Point was then cleared by Dover and State Police Departments, according to District Officials. Students will reportedly remain and activities will resume for the day. They also expressed law enforcement for being so responsive to the incidents.
Dover Police say that South Dover Elementary School was placed on lockdown, as a precaution, as it is close to Holy Cross.
Police say Holy Cross has since been cleared of any dangers, but Officers remain on scene, as a precaution.
The Smyrna Police Department says around 9:30 AM on Friday, staff at John Bassett Moore Intermediate School, on Fraizer Street in Smyrna, received an automated bomb threat. The call was apparently placed directly to the school. Students and staff were immediately evacuated, according to Police, while School Administration and members of the Smyrna Police Department searched the building. Officials say nothing suspicious, or out of the ordinary was found, so the building was deemed to be safe.
Police say students and staff have since returned to regular activities, and that there is no threat the public at this time.
