Alligator confiscated from Harford Co. property

Officials in Maryland have confiscated a 3-foot-long alligator from a Harford County man’s property.

Natural Resources Police served a search warrant Friday at a house in the 3900 block of Willoughby Beach Road in Edgewood as a result of complaints from neighbors. The Natural Resources Police says the alligator was found in a backyard pond at the home.

Radio station WBAL reports a resident of the home, Charles Dorsey, has been charged with one count of possession of a dangerous animal, a misdemeanor that carries a $1,000 fine. Dorsey is due in court on August 19.

Natural Resources Police were taking the alligator to the Catoctin Wildlife Preserve and Zoo in Frederick County.

Attempts to reach Dorsey by telephone Saturday for comment were unsuccessful.
