Mardela Wrestling Tops Colonel
The Mardela wrestling team picked up their first win of the year Wednesday when they defeated Colonel Richardson 46-27. The win improves the Warriors to 1-1, while the loss drops the Colonels to 1-1.
The Warriors Nycir Tucker got the match started with a 6-3 win over Kyle Coleman in the 126 bracket. That was followed by a 5-w shut out win by Colonel’s Tyler Stanton over Christian Sempret in the 132’s. Mardela’s Shamar Watts then earned the first pin of the match just 1:58 into the first set in the 138;s. Chase Brown followed that with another pin win for Mardela, followed by another by Parker Dewitt as the Warriors began to separate.
The Colonels then made a comeback, started with a pin by Jonathon Gosnell in the 160’s. Coldy Pruitt then took a win in the 170’s for Mardela before back to back pins for the Colonels by Thomas Greenage and Josh Draper. But the Warriors would close it out with a win by Isiah Sanabria and a pin by Melvin Grayson.
Mardela returns to action Friday when they travel to Queen Anne’s, while the Colonels host Kent Island Friday.
