Mardela Girls Soccer Upset Snow Hill To Advance

Snow Hill, MD – The Mardela girls soccer team pulled off a dramatic upset Friday afternoon when they traveled to take down top seeded Snow Hill 1-0. The Warriors now move on to play Bohemia Manor.

The Warriors would take the lead early on after a penalty in the box awarded Mardela a penalty kick. Casey Goshorn would square it up and send it home to the left post to give her team the lead. Minutes later it looked as they Goshorn had given the Warriors a 2-0 lead after a free kick from just outside the box was sent in, but it would be negated for not waiting for the officials whistle to signal play. The Eagles looked to find the equalizer and did everything but put one home in the first half. They even found open nets, wide open crosses, and free kicks from outside the box but time and time again their attempts were turned away.

In the second half, the Warriors began to pack the box and play defense, limiting the options for the Eagles. As time wore down, Snow Hill became more and more desperate but still they were unable to find the back of the net. Time would eventually run out, and the Warriors would advance with a thrilling upset win.
