Police say they are investigating a serious Clayton motorcycle crash

Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit say they are currently investigating a serious motor vehicle crash that involved a motorcycle that occurred last night west of Clayton.

The investigation states that the crash occurred Saturday, August 28, 2016, at approximately 9:44 p.m.

Police report that 53-year-old Robert Kimble of Maryland was operating a 2007 Harley Davidson Dyna low rider motorcycle northbound on Blackiston Road north of Chance Road.

Investigators say a 2003 Jeep Liberty driven by 42-year-old Joy L. Taylor of Maryland, was in front of the motorcycle. Kimble attempted to pass the Jeep Liberty on a double yellow line and struck the left rear fender of the Jeep Liberty.

Reportedly, the impact sent the Jeep spinning out of control into a grass field. Kimble was ejected from the motorcycle as it went down on its left side.

Kimble was wearing a helmet and police say he was treated by paramedics and was transported by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center with life threatening injuries.

Police state that alcohol and speed are two factors involved on behalf of Kimble.

Taylor and the three passengers in the Jeep were all wearing seatbelts and were not injured in the collision.

Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit say the crash still remains under investigation.
