UPDATE: Dorchester Co. man charged in connection with shooting and high speed chase investigation

A man is facing multiple charges including attempted murder, after police say he led them on a high speed chase and drove directly at an officer, in Maryland.
Maryland State Police say on Thursday, 27-year-old Armand J Cornish, of Cambridge, is being charged on an arrest warrant with attempted first degree murder, attempted second degree murder, first degree assault, second degree assault (two counts), second degree assault on a law enforcement officer, failure to obey a lawful order of a police officer, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, unauthorized removal of property and theft between $1,500 and $25,000. Police say the charges stem from a shooting an High speed chase that happened on June 239, in Cambridge.
The warrant was apparently served on Cornish on Tuesday, while he is currently a patient at the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.
According to the report, Cornish was driving a stolen car, chasing his naked girlfriend down the street in the 700 block of St. Claire Avenue. Officers say Cornish then led the Cambridge Police Department on a pursuit before ignoring commands to stop. Authorities say the 27-year-old then drove directly at and hit a Cambridge police officer. Law enforcement reports that Cornish was then shot by the officer.
He is ordered to be held without bond and remains in Maryland Division of Correction custody at the hospital.
The Cambridge Police Department requested that MSP Homicide Unit investigate the police-involved shooting. Officials say upon completion of the investigation, it will be turned over to the Dorchester County State's Attorney's Office for review.
This is an ongoing investigation.
