Charity donates body armor to Easton police dog

The Easton Police Department announced their K9, Meeko, received a protective vest donated by non-profit Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

The body armor vest helps protect Meeko, a German shepherd, against bullets and stabbing.

The Massachusetts-based charity has been providing protective vests for law enforcement animals throughout the country since 2009, donating more than 2,100 vests over the past seven years.

Meeko's vest was sponsored by Philip Tindall of Lawn Irrigation System, Inc. in Trappe. The Easton Police Department's motto, "with pride we serve," was embroidered on to the vest.

Officials estimate there are nearly 30,000 law enforcement K9s in the U.S.
