Colonel Richardson played host to the Snow Hill Eagles for Friday night football. Both the Colonels and the Eagles are coming off of losses so they were both looking to get their first win of the fall tonight.The home team would get things going right away, Eric Joseph took the ball almost all the way to the end zone to start off the game and that set up the touchdown from Calvin Tilgman a couple plays later. Shawne Bowens and A.J. Palmer also contributed offensively with a couple of touchdowns. Colonel managed to score 3 touchdowns in the first quarter alone while Snow Hill's Amonty Allen helped the Eagles score once in the first quarter for a 21-6 score.While the Colonels showed dominance on the field, the Eagles were getting hurt from different penalty calls for chop blocking throughout the first quarter, and definitely hurt them down the road.The Eagles are a much better team than they were able to prove tonight on the field, however, what a great win for Colonel Richardson in front of their fans. The Colonels have been working hard to get some wins under their belts and this will be a memorable one for a long time as the Colonels take this one, 55-14 the final.
The North Caroline Bulldogs were coming off of a huge win last week over Easton - while Cambridge South-Dorchester is also coming off of a big win against WiHi last week. Both teams took the field tonight on the look out for the win tonight in Cambridge.Nathaniel Lowe helped Cambridge get on the board early in the first quarter with a 75 yard touchdown to the house to take a 7-0 lead. The first half continued to stay closed throughout -- there would be a controversial call up at the end of the first half. North Caroline put up a hail mary into the end zone -- while it appeared through pictures and video that the ball was in the hands of a member of the Vikings defense - after about two minutes of discussion, the referees ruled that a touchdown for North Caroline and helped the Bulldogs to take a 20 - 14 lead going into halftime.That play would not be the only time that the referees it wouldn't hurt the Vikings - late in the fourth quarter, Lowe, quarterback for Cambridge, took off down the sideline for a huge gain, but it would be called back due to a holding penalty against his team. That turned into a replay of the first down along with a 10 yard penalty. The big loss on the play ended up being the game-changer in the fourth quarter as time ran out, quarterback Lowe fumbled the ball while it was recovered by Navar Solis and the Bulldogs secured the road victory over the Vikings, 20 - 14 the final.
