Man charged in connection with fatal accident in Del.

A 40-year-old woman died after police say a Delaware man ran over the victim twice using his car.
The Dover Police Department says on Wednesday, just after 2:20 AM, 36-year-old Gerald Medkeff was driving a Mazda 3 sedan in the back alley of New Castle Avenue. Police say Medkeff was in the area to buy drugs. While in the alley, officers say Medkeff was approached by several people in the area who became disorderly with him.
According to the report, the Smyrna man attempted to leave the area by placing his vehicle in reverse, striking Moneca Saunders. After hitting Saunders, authorities say she became stuck under Medkeff's vehicle. Dover PD reports that Medkeff then shifted from reverse to forward at least twice more in an effort to leave, but he was unsuccessful.
Law enforcement reports that assistance from the Dover Fire Department was needed to free the victim from under the vehicle. Authorities say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident.
Saunders was later pronounced dead at Kent General Hospital.
Medkeff was charged with a single count of second degree vehicular homicide.
