Repeat! Smyrna Handles Middletown To Complete Perfect Season!

The Smyrna football team took a big step towards establishing themselves as a dynasty Saturday afternoon when they defeated Middletown in the DIAA DI State Championship 36-14. The win completed a perfect season for the Eagles at 12-0 and earned them their 2nd straight state title.
The Eagles would come out on a mission early, getting their ground game rolling. Will Knight would lead the march down the field before a hold penalty would stall the drive. The Cavaliers would do nothing on their ensuing drive and punt the ball back to Smyrna deep in their own territory. Again, the Eagles offense would have their way with the vaunted Cavaliers defense. Smryna would methodically rush down the field before capping off the drive with a 7 yard touchdown run by Will Knight. The 2 point attempt would be no good, giving the Eagles a 6-0 lead.
