POLICE: Serious crash involving two cars and a tractor-trailer

A serious crash on Bay Road and New Wharf Road involving two cars and a tractor-trailer sent multiple people to the hospital with serious injuries on Sunday. 

According to the Carlisle Fire Company, two people were flown to hospitals with critical injuries and two others were transported by ground also with serious injuries. 

The Fire Company said first responders had to work around heavy entrapment when removing the passengers from their cars.

Both lanes where the incident took place had to be shut down for an extended period of time. 

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
