Delaware man arrested for the second time in less than a month

A suspected burglar from Felton is behind bars after police found him in his car at a party with various drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Delaware State Police say they found and arrested 34-year-old Jesse A. Nichols in his truck after a tip informed them he was at a party in Felton. 

Police were searching for Nichols after he became the suspect of a burglary investigation that happened on the 1500 block of Redbud Drive. According to the report on July 13 a homeowner called to say his camper had been broken into and robbed between 12:45 PM and 5:30 PM. The homeowner found the sliding glass door damaged, and the refrigerator, mattress, and two large plastic containers with personal items missing.

Further investigation had revealed that Nichols was the primary suspect and on Sunday, July 15 Troopers received a call telling them Nichols was at a party on Redbud Drive. Officials say that they were able to locate Nichols in his GMC Sierra, along with four bags of crack cocaine weight .72 grams, .19 grams of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. A DUI investigation began after Troopers believed Nichols demeanor was due to his alcohol consumption. 

Nichols was arrested and charged with burglary second degree, two counts of theft under $1500, criminal mischief, third offense driving a vehicle under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.  the 34-year-old was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $3,800.00 secured bond.
