Sleep Cheap owner speaks out after customers raise concerns

A business owner in laurel has been in the hot seat after leaving customers clueless as to when they would receive their purchases.

For a while 47 ABC and customers couldn't get answers from Sleep Cheap as to why people were being left empty handed but now the owner, Dana Santana, is speaking out.

"I had a partner that disappeared suddenly and quickly and I'm here cleaning up the mess and make sure that everyone is getting taken care of," Santana tells us.

Santana claims she last heard from her partner less than two weeks ago before communication stopped all together. Since then she says she's been scrambling to make things right.

She says, "I have a trailer full of stuff I have no idea who's is what. I'm just trying to unload it, get through the orders see who's is what. I was not in the store as much as I should have been as an owner so I'm planning to get everyone taken care of with their product or refund."

So far she's kept her promise. Many Sleep Cheap consumers have already got their money back or their merchandise. One customer, Travis Scott, got his $700 back. Other customers were leaving the store with their products.

"It's sad for me because I care about my customers and the fact they are upset with ultimately is very upsetting to me. That's why I'm here with no air conditioning, making sure everyone is getting taken care of," Santana says.

The reason why there's no A/C at Sleep Cheap is actually because Delmarva Power shut off their service last week while our cameras were there because they weren't paying their bills.

We also asked Santana today if she will seek legal action against her partner, but she said this time she does not know.

We're told whatever is not sold already, then it's going to the floor as cash and carry items.

As of now, the store will be closed  Wednesday will re-open Thursday.
