UPDATE: DNREC: More private wells test positive for higher PFC levels in Del.

Environmental officials say that more private wells have tested positive for elevated PFC levels outside the Town of Blades.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control and the Division of Public Health say on Monday, they are continuing to focus on the testing of private wells in the Blades area by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for elevated levels of perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) in homeowners' drinking water. As of Monday, officials say 34 of the 44 wells outside of the town of Blades were sampled by the EPA and three wells returned PFC's above the EPA's health advisory of 70 parts per trillion (70/ppt).
According to officials, homeowners whose wells are found to exceed the EPA's health advisory for PFCs are given home carbon filtration systems the same day results are received. Another of the 44 private wells tested to date was close enough to the EPA health advisory for PFCs that DNREC and DPH as a precaution provided that homeowner with carbon filtration.
Water is being distributed DNREC, DPH, and the Town of Blades to area residents on private wells who request it. Containers brought in by area residents requesting water will be filled with carbon-treated water at Blades Town Hall, on West Fourth Street. The hours of distribution are Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
