Riders’ Come Up Clutch, Advance To Semis

Dover, DE- With less than six minutes remaining in a game that looked almost certain to be going into overtime, the Caesar Rodney boys soccer team came thru in the clutch notching two goals in the final six minutes, defeating the Del Castle Cougars 2-0 in the DIAA boys soccer state tournament.

The game was a back and forth affair, with both teams missing out on great scoring opportunities. With under 6 to go, CR was awarded a corner, and set the piece perfectly in the box where it was settled and shot, the ball was deflected out by the keeper, and rolled right to the front of the net where Riders' forward Adrian Coverdale was waiting to put it into the back of the net. Coverdale would come up clutch again with less than two minutes remaining, with a beautiful header that found the back of the net.

The Riders advance to the semifinals of the DIAA State tournament where they have a rematch with a Cape Henlopen (14-1) team, who's only loss came at the hands of the Riders. Game time is set for 8pm on Wednesday at Dover High.
