UPDATE: One arrested in Fruitland mobile home arson

A Fruitland man has been arrested, after he reportedly attempted to set fire to his own home.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says they have charged 42-year-old Robert Stidham Jr., in connection to the December 1st mobile home fire on Skylar Drive, in Fruitland. Stidham was charged with 1st and 2nd degree arson.

Investigators say Stidham, the owner and occupant of the mobile home, was arrested on Thursday, and is now in the Wicomico County Detention Center. Officials say a motive for the fire, which caused $1,000 in damages, has not been found at this time.

Stidham faces up to 50 years in prison, and $80,000 in fines, if convicted.
