Update: Ocean Downs has “no comment” on fire

The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fire that completely destroyed a maintenance building at Ocean Downs Casino Monday night.  

Officials say the fire was reported at 7:30p.m. Once firefighters arrived, the building was found engulfed in flames.

Berlin, Ocean City, Ocean Pines, Newark, and Showell firefighters responded to take down the flames. Apparently, it took the responders roughly 45 minutes to get the fire under control, and another hour and a half in salvage and overhaul.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. 47ABC spoke with the director of security at Ocean Downs, he tells us they will not be commenting on the fire until the investigation has concluded.
