Nanticoke Memorial Hospital revises visitation policy over flu concerns

Flu concerns across Delmarva have prompted another Delaware hospital to revise their visitation policy.

The latest Delmarva hospital to take steps is Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. Starting on Tuesday, no one under the age of 16 will be allowed to visit. Patients will now only be allowed to have two visitors at a time. Officials are also asking those who are sick, or have flu symptoms, to not visit patients in the hospital.

Penny Short, Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer for Nanticoke says “Like others in the area, Nanticoke is responding to the large number of people with the flu. Following common sense protocols like regular hand washing and limiting exposure to those who are sick is important for reducing the spread of the flu. Patient safety is our priority. We are putting the health of our patients’ first by doing what we can to limit exposure.”
