Town of Ocean City honors local law enforcement

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Another local town here on the Eastern Shore joins the nation, hoping to address the current tensions between law enforcement and the public.
A number of protests have taken place since the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown, but now officials in Ocean City want to show their support for local authorities.
“We’re under a level of scrutiny, we understand that,” says OCPD Chief Ross Buzzuro, “…but I think the bottom line is that our commitment remains the same.”
Thursday at an event honoring the men and women in uniform, Mayor Rick Meehan and Buzzuro spoke out on how the public can strengthen their bond with law enforcement.
A number of citizens came out to show their support, and signed a picture in thanks to local authorities. That picture will be framed and placed in the police department.
Mayor Meehan thinks the community support is crucial.
He says, “…just to let those officer know how much they’re appreciated and how we recognize what job they do to keep our town safe. I think it’s very important.”
National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (LEAD) kicks off tomorrow.
