Ravens’ Cold Fourth Quarter Propels Cape To Win

The Cape Henlopen girls basketball team got their fourth win of the season, ending their two game losing streak, when they defeated Sussex Tech 48-36 Tuesday night.

The Vikings jumped out to a 14-8 lead after one quarter, getting 9 points from freshman Sydney Pedersen. The Ravens would make a surge in the second quarter propelled by senior guard Erykah Tolliver’s 7 points in the quarter, still Cape held the 23-22 lead after one half.

Both teams came out attacking in the second half, with Cape outscoring Tech 11-9. Aliyah Bowden pushed Tech up and down the floor, scoring 5 of her team high 10 in the third. In the fourth, the Vikings would clamp down on defense, allowing just 5 points, while they poured in 14 more points. Sydney Petersen led Cape with a game-high 20 points, while teammate Calley Thornberg connected on four three pointers, yielding 12 points. Tech was led by Bowden’s 10 and Tolliver’s 8.
