Mallory Enters 1,000-Point Club; Polytech Rolls To 86-67 Victory

The Polytech High School boy’s basketball team not only tallied another victory Tuesday night against Hodgson, 86-67, but a milestone was reached by senior DeVaughn Mallory, hitting his 1,000 point of his career in the second quarter. With the victory, the Panthers improve to 13-1, while the Silver Eagles move to 9-6.

Polytech wasted no time in this game, jumping out to an early lead in the game with hot three-point shooting. Putting up a 23-7 advantage through the first quarter, Mallory would record his 1,000 point off a three ball from the left corner just minutes into the second quarter. He finished with 21 points for the game, including a game-high three from behind the arc.

Juwan Gray led all scorers for the game, cashing in on 22 points for the Panthers. John Stansbury paced the Silver Eagles with 17 points.

Polytech heads to Smyrna on Thursday for its next game with tip set for 7:15 p.m. Hodgson travels back home for a matchup against Wilmington Friends School on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
