Pocomoke Outlasts Delmar
The Pocomoke boys basketball team jumped out early on Delmar, and survived a comeback attempt by the Wildcats, winning 77-65.
The Warriors led 20-12 after one, and 33-30 at the half, led by center Licurtis Whitney’s 12 points and sharpshooter Raymir Smith’s 11 points. Despite putting up 35 points in the second half, Delmar was stymied by Pocomoke’s suffocating defense, which used a box-and-1 on Delmar guard Larry Ennis. The defense slowed Ennis, but it did not stop him, as the senior went for a game-high 19 points. Guard Shane Leatherbury had 17 for the Wildcats in the loss.
For Pocomoke, Dajour Mills led the way with a team-high 17 points, while Whitney and Smith both finished with 14 apiece. Jameel Baldwin would round out the scorer’s in double figures for Pocomoke with his 12 points.
